Automating data protection using SyncBackLite is accomplished by creating dedicated backup profiles within the software and assigning them automated time-based schedules.
Note: 2BrightSparks has officially retired the “Lite” tier. However, if you are still running an existing copy, the underlying engine operates identically to its sibling variants, SyncBackFree, SyncBackSE, and SyncBackPro. Step 1: Create a Backup Profile
Before automating, you must define exactly what data needs protection and where it should go.
Launch SyncBackLite and click the New or Create button at the bottom of the window.
Name your profile based on its purpose (e.g., “Daily Documents Backup”).
Choose the Profile Type. Select Backup (copies files from source to destination). Avoid choosing Synchronize for basic data protection, as a sync can accidentally delete historical backup files if you delete them from your main computer.
Define the Source, which is the local drive or folder containing your critical data.
Define the Destination, which should ideally be an external hard drive, network-attached storage (NAS), or secondary local drive. Step 2: Automate via the “When” Settings
Once your source and destination paths are saved, you can hand off the work to the automation engine.
Select your new profile from the main window and click Modify.
Navigate to the When tab located on the left-hand menu sidebar. Click on Schedule.
Set the Frequency. You can choose to run the backup Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. For critical work documents, a daily schedule during lunchtime or at the end of your workday is highly recommended.
Click OK to register the profile with the Windows Task Scheduler, which allows it to run silently in the background. Step 3: Configure Safety & Verification Settings
True data protection requires a “set-and-forget” routine that guards against errors, file corruption, and interruptions. 2BrightSparks 2BrightSparks: SyncBack Backup Software – Free, SE & Pro
